Rangiroa, or Rairoa, the biggest atoll in French Polynesia is a unique destination.
Getting to Rangiroa
Situated 217 miles northeast of Tahiti, Rangiroa is accessible by boat or by plane. Just a one hour flight from Tahiti-Faa’a International Airport, the biggest atoll in French Polynesia is a jewel in the Tuamotu Islands. The airport is on the main motu, Avatoru, and is close to the village and most accommodation. If you prefer the gentler pace of marine travel, then two companies will take you to Rangiroa on an unforgettable voyage.
Getting around in Rangiroa
Arrange with your accommodation to meet you at the airport, which is about 10 minutes from the main village. Alternatively, you can rent a car or motor scooter, or catch a taxi from the airport. The best way to get around in Rangiroa is by boat, and there are numerous excursions and day trips on the lagoon. You can also stay on a catamaran.
